Barrie Farmers' Market

Heritage Estate Winery and Cidery is Barrie's original craft cidery and only boutique winery, run by Peter and Jocelyn at 421 Penetanguishene Road in Simcoe County. It makes award-winning ciders from 100% Ontario apples with no additives or preservatives and less than half the sugar of most commercial ciders, along with wines from grapes grown on site and across Ontario, sparkling wines and sangrias. The estate has a century farmhouse, tasting room, wedding venue and on-site production facility; the retail shop is open Friday to Sunday, noon to 6 pm, for tastings, tours and purchases, and closes for winter from December 15 to April 15.

Blooming Flower Farm grows chemical-free cut flowers on a farm in Bradford West Gwillimbury, Ontario, offering hand-tied bouquets, event arrangements, holiday wreaths, and DIY floral buckets. Without Reservations is a Barrie chef-prepared meal company at 33 Alliance Boulevard. Chef Lawrence Bangay, a Canadian sous vide pioneer with more than 45 years in fine dining, catering and first-class airline service, cooks every meal sous vide, seals it in a pouch and flash-freezes it, ready to heat from frozen in hot water in 20 to 30 minutes. Meat and dairy come from Simcoe County and Southern Ontario producers, raised without antibiotics or hormones, with no preservatives. The menu covers dinner kits, à la carte mains and sides, the Really Good Vegan line and desserts in Mason jars, with delivery across Southern Ontario, pickup at the Barrie store, and Saturdays at the Barrie Farmers' Market.

Harris Farms is a family-owned farm in Springwater, Ontario (3216 George Johnston Road, about five minutes from Barrie, Minesing, Midhurst and Angus), and the family business is now in its third generation. It began in 1986 with a picnic table at the end of the lane where Grandpa Harris sold sweet corn, and sweet corn is still its focus: peaches and cream, yellow and white varieties, and Grandpa Harris's 14-cob "Farmers Dozen" is still offered. The farm also grows a wide range of field vegetables and fruit, including tomatoes, beans, peas, greens, beets, potatoes, onions, peppers, zucchini and raspberries, with 11 varieties of winter squash, pumpkins and gourds in the fall, and carries Miller's Dairy milk from Creemore. Its farm stand is open seasonally from May through the end of October.

Homestead Artisan Bakery + Cafe is a downtown Barrie bakery at 80 Dunlop Street East specializing in long-ferment sourdough, baked by hand in small batches with local and organic flours such as rye, spelt, red fife and buckwheat. Owners Cait Patrick and Lise Garden trained under Certified Master Baker Jeffrey Hamelman and started out at the Barrie Farmers' Market before opening the bakery in 2016. The café also serves breakfast and lunch, and coffee from its sister roaster, Good Monday Coffee Roasters.
