The Colossal Onion

Based out of Kitchener, Ontario, The Colossal Onion is a Canadian-owned and operated specialty food concession. A midway staple at large-scale events from east to west — including the Calgary Stampede and the Canadian National Exhibition — they serve their signature hot and crispy Colossal Onion: carefully sliced, hand-battered, and fried until crispy and golden (in 100 per cent canola oil). Best enjoyed shared. The Original is served with a chipotle mayo dipping sauce; Fully Loaded is piled with hot cheese sauce, bacon bits, chives, and chipotle mayo. Permanent location at St. Jacobs Farmers' Market in the Peddler's Village building, Thursdays and Saturdays 8AM–2PM.
