Backyard Harvest is an urban farm in Hamilton run by farmer Russ Ohrt, growing ultra-local produce with organic and biodynamic methods in backyards across the Strathcona, Kirkendall and North End neighbourhoods. Started in 2009, it sells seasonal vegetables, greens, herbs and berries at the Locke Street Farmers' Market on Saturdays from late May to the end of October, much of it harvested within hours of market start, and runs a community-supported agriculture food share.
